When words fail…
Art Therapy does not solely rely on language or verbal skills, nor does it require technical skill or special artistic abilities. Art therapy is an extremely accessible form of therapy that promotes discovery and expression of the self, personal development, and integration.
We may not identify as an artist or consider ourselves to be creative. It is not about the final piece of art that is created; it is about the personal journey and process the creator embarks on.
I have a deep appreciation for the role art and creative expression have within the therapeutic space, fostering one’s health and well-being. In my art therapy practice, I aim to provide a safe and inclusive environment, providing trauma-informed care using a client-centered approach based in psychodynamic theory, while also utilizing DBT, CBT and mindfulness practices. While this is my main framework, I recognize the value of an interdisciplinary approach, and so I believe in incorporating various approaches within my art therapy practice tailored to your needs.
